The Things We Don’t Want To Talk About
We Are In A Literacy Crisis
In this episode, I highlight the issues educators are facing, Black & Brown youth being behind academically, the lack of support and resources being left out the conversation as the school year around the United States is coming to an end. I reflect on my positionality as a Black woman educator and one who is from the city of Detroit and the changes that have been seen in the last 10 years. This episode sheds light on the state of our community and helps people who are not aware to understand a demographic of people and places that is in desperate need of change so that a better future can exist.
